Supporting our local community with IntoUniversity
Everyone should have access to a university education, regardless of background or identity. This is why we’ve been partnered with Manchester University as an IntoUniversity donor for the last few years.
IntoUniversity delivers educational activities for disadvantaged young people aged 7-18. They introduce Primary and secondary school pupils to Higher Education through a tailored programme of workshops, out-of-school study, aspirational coaching and mentoring, career advice, and personal support sessions.
Michelle, who studies at IntoUniversity Manchester North in year 7, said: “IntoUniversity is a change of scenery from home, so I feel like I can focus better on my work. There are also resources such as computers, art materials and paper and pens at IntoUniversity that I don’t have at home, which can help me to achieve more.”
‘Before I knew what jobs I wanted to do, but I didn’t know what steps I needed to take to achieve it. When I came to IntoUniversity, I found out what universities I could go to and what qualifications I’d need, and I also found out about new career paths! My teachers really inspire me – they devote so much time to their students and help them a lot, and I want to do that too.’
During the 23/24 academic year, the IntoUniversity Manchester North Centre has provided crucial academic and soft-skill development to 1,549 young people. This totals 3,896 unique students that the centre has worked with in the six years since its funding began.
