named Travel Brand of the Year at Travolution Awards


Leeds-based triumphs at the industry’s leading awards for innovation and excellence in travel focussing on brands in online, digital and tech., the UK’s leading holiday comparison and deals website based on Park Row in Leeds City Centre, was named Travolution’s Travel Brand of the Year and recognised as Best Metasearch at a glittering awards ceremony held on Thursday 14 November at The Hilton London Bankside.

Travolution’s Travel Brand of the Year category, which cannot be entered directly, recognises the brand that has had the most significant impact in travel over the last 12 months as selected by a panel comprised of business leaders, experts and entrepreneurs.

icelolly was recognised for “being prominent on television this year, and building brand awareness through its exclusive partnership with ITV”, explained guest host and comedian Ed Gamble when presenting the award.

The presenter went on to explain how the business had been acknowledged for its amazing growth in 2019, and for developing new and valuable opportunities for its partners to drive consumer interest in their deals. He also commended icelolly for its clear focus on improving the user experience to drive the company forward, attracting over 20 million users annually and generating over 40 million search queries.

In addition to the Travel Brand of the Year, icelolly’s win in the Best Metasearch category recognised the company as having the greatest impact in the market for its forward-thinking approach on emerging channels and its investment in its business platform to support future growth.

Both award-wins come in a year in which industry analysts at Hitwise underlined icelolly’s claim to have grown from being the UK’s fastest-growing holiday comparison and deals website – for which it was recognised as Rising Brand of the Year at last year’s Travolution awards – to the most visited holiday comparison site, with visitor numbers doubling during this year’s turn of year peak booking period.

It’s difficult to describe how proud I am for to win such esteemed awards at this year’s Travolution awards. Winning for Best Metasearch is a fantastic achievement, and to be named Travel Brand of the Year for the first time ever is simply incredible. The award isn’t given based on who has the most votes, or a shortlist – the winner is selected by business leaders, experts and entrepreneurs, and we are incredibly proud to take our place alongside previous winners, which includes industry heavyweights such as TUI, Love Holidays, Jet2 and On the Beach.
