Lucion Group acquires leading radiation protection consultancy

Lucion Group, the leading environmental services company, has acquired specialist consultancy Aberdeen Radiation Protection Services (ARPS) Ltd, in a strategic deal that strengthens its capabilities in the nuclear sector.

The deal, which also boosts Lucion’s presence in Scotland, will see skilled members of the ARPS team join the business.

Founded in 2001, ARPS provides comprehensive and cost-effective radiation protection services to a wide range of industrial and non-industrial companies operating globally.

It specialises in providing Radiation Protection advice, Radioactive Waste advice and Dangerous Goods Safety advice and training to customers. While its core focus is the provision of radiation protection services to the Energy sector, it also serves the waste management industry including Naturally Occurring Radioactive Material (NORM) decontamination and final disposal sites, vets, teaching/research faculties, and local authorities.

Adam Mead, Managing Director of Testing & Inspection at Lucion Group said: “The ARPS team has established an excellent reputation in the sector over the last two decades and their expertise, knowledge and contacts in the marketplace are welcome additions to the broad range of services we currently provide.

“Their capabilities complement the work we are already undertaking in the Nuclear sector and I am looking forward to working with the team as we continue to grow and provide a best-in-class range of environmental risk management services to our clients.”

Matt Brodie, Managing Director of Aberdeen Radiation Protection Services said: “ARPS has built a strong reputation for providing high-quality radiation protection services to clients in the UK and abroad. Despite recent challenges presented by a global pandemic we never stood still, and when presented with the opportunity to join a progressive market leader like Lucion Group our team immediately recognised the synergies and saw it is a fantastic opportunity for ARPS to continue to develop its strategy and vision of delivering first-class services in a modern format while expanding into new locations and markets – an exciting prospect indeed for 2022.”

Lucion Group operates nationwide with more than 500 employees working across over 20 industrial sectors and including Utilities, Real Estate, Nuclear, Technology, Marine and Development.

Lucion was supported on the acquisition by Addleshaw Goddard.

When Palatine Private Equity supported our management buy-out in 2019, our collective plan was to continue to grow organically while also taking opportunities to expand and enhance our service offering through M&A. On the back of the acquisition of Delta-Simons earlier this year and strong organic growth throughout 2021, it is fantastic to end the year by welcoming the ARPS team into the Lucion Group and continue with that strategic vision.

Going into 2022 we will look to continue our strategic growth plan. We have good visibility over continued organic growth and have a strong pipeline of further acquisitions under consideration.
