bk plus, backed by Palatine, has announced further national growth with the addition of two long-established regional accountancy practices, Geens Chartered Accountants and Wells Richardson, reinforcing its position as one of the UK’s fastest-growing accountancy and advisory firms for SMEs.

Together, the two firms bring almost 250 years of combined experience, trusted by generations of local businesses and families for their personal service and practical advice.

Founded in 1884, Geens Chartered Accountants is one of Stoke-on-Trent’s most respected practices, known for its deep community roots and long-standing client relationships.

Licensed by the ICAEW, Geens brings recognised expertise that enhances bk plus’s private-client and advisory offering.

Wells Richardson, based in Sheffield and established in 1916, is equally well known for its hands-on support of SMEs across South Yorkshire. The firm’s proactive approach, strong local reputation and people-first culture align closely with bk plus’s values and further strengthen its presence across the North.

The move also introduces a new specialist service in probate and estate administration, expanding bk plus’s personal finance and advisory capabilities.

Shaun Knight, CEO of bk plus, said: “We’ve focused on sustainable, people-first growth partnering with firms that share our values and local focus. These new teams bring exceptional expertise and regional strength to our business, while our new probate and estate administration service means we can now support clients and families through every stage of life and business.”

While the addition of two long-established regional firms marks another milestone in its growth, Knight confirmed there’s more activity ahead “Even as 2025 draws to a close, we still have a few more exciting moves to announce – and 2026 looks set to be an even bigger year for bk plus.”

Richard Thomas, partner and head of Palatine Private Equity midlands team, said: “What impresses us about bk plus is the way they’re growing. They are not simply chasing scale, but doing it in a way that strengthens local communities and preserves the relationships that matter most.

“Geens and Wells Richardson are brilliant additions, bringing decades of trusted expertise whilst sharing that same people-first culture. It’s great to support a team that’s building something sustainable and genuinely valuable for SMEs across the UK.”

Founded in 2021 and backed by Palatine, bk plus has rapidly established itself as one of the UK’s leading independent, partner-led accountancy groups. The firm provides audit, accounts, tax, restructuring and specialist advisory services, supporting thousands of owner-managed businesses nationwide.

The firm now operates from 33 offices nationwide, employs more than 650 professionals, and continues to expand its capability and reach across the UK.
