Palatine supports Manchester Access Programme Scholarships

10-06-2019

Palatine Private Equity has pledged to support the Manchester Access Programme Scholarships (MAP).

The scholarship programme, headed by the University of Manchester, is targeted at students in Greater Manchester who come from backgrounds underrepresented in higher education.

The programme works with local schools and colleges to identify talented pupils aged 16+ who would otherwise be unlikely to attend university due to them living in areas with very low participation in higher education, having low household incomes and/or no family tradition of attending university.

MAP aims to support these students through a series of events and activities which enable them to develop the skills and confidence to apply to university.

Social inclusion is important to us at Palatine. We believe businesses have a key part to play in creating a positive impact on society and the environment. Being headquartered in Manchester, we have strong relations with The University of Manchester and we are delighted to be able to support these young people through this fantastic initiative.

Palatine’s donation will support three undergraduate students throughout their time at university. To find out more visit: https://www.manchester.ac.uk/study/undergraduate/aspiring-students/map/

For most young people, university is a daunting prospect, where you travel across the country and learn to study and live independently. For me, MAP eased the blow of how daunting it really was, and paved the way to a much smoother transition between college and university.

The programme gave me the confidence to believe that I could not only attend university, but also succeed. The scholarship made it so much easier for me to concentrate on my studies and gave me the opportunity to try new things to make my experience at Manchester the best it could possibly be.
