Palatine’s awards for businesses Operating Sustainability, Consciously, and Responsibly (OSCARs) 2023
Each year, we celebrate the companies within our portfolio that go above and beyond to embed and progress ESG practices within their businesses. This year’s awards go to…
Rising Star Award: Morro Partnerships
Morro has been recognised for this award for fully embracing the Palatine ESG framework and identifying its opportunities regarding competitive edge, attracting and retaining staff and value enhancement.
Morro has a robust risk management and compliance framework, with various certified systems, giving them a solid foundation upon which to build a strategic offering. Progress is already being made with a waste management project and a carbon and net zero project starting this week. Morro also recently launched its new brand, which puts sustainability at the heart and commits the company to be ‘better tomorrow makers’.
Embedding Sustainability Award: DTM
DTM had a strong ESG foundation from investment with robust management and governance systems that provided a platform for more strategic sustainability activities across its operations. Our investment has enabled significant advancements across all parts of the business and supported the company in applying a sustainability lens to operations, integrating sustainability into the business strategy and putting it at the heart of the company culture. DTM has stepped up to be a catalyst for change in its industry, aiming to support its clients on their sustainability journeys by facilitating carbon reductions through tyre management with the ultimate aim of using fewer tyres and minimising carbon emissions.
Impact Outcomes Award: B2W Group
B2W Group has had a significant positive impact on society. Its core focus is on permanently breaking cycles of ‘unemployability’, low skills and low-paid work that trap people in poverty and negatively impact regional economies. It does this through various high-quality training courses, skills bootcamps, apprenticeships and employment support. B2W has scaled its impact significantly since our investment through organic growth and acquisition. It continues to deliver high pass and employment rates whilst maintaining a well-governed approach. An experienced and high-performing quality team leads it with robust safeguarding and inclusion standards.
Climate Leadership Award: Lucion Group
Lucion Group is taking action internally to minimise its climate impacts and working with its clients to improve ESG outcomes. It has prioritised SDG 13 on climate action internally and is making strides in this area. Part of the business is certified as ‘beyond net zero’ and has a verified Science Based Target in place, which commits to reducing emissions in line with the Paris Agreement. It is working on broadening the scope of this to cover the extent of the group, which has grown through acquisition. Lucion also offers a range of carbon services, including footprinting, offsetting, SBT and NetZero roadmaps, energy audits and advising on climate change adaptation, demonstrating that the company’s purpose is ‘protecting people and planet’.
Outstanding Achievement Award: Cyberfort
Cyberfort’s continued progress on ESG improvements and implementation has been significant, and we can firmly see that sustainability is now central to the company culture. Cyberfort has considered sustainability holistically in the formation of its sustainability strategy and has a series of targets in place under three pillars – people, environment and supplier diversity. It has already achieved significant advancements in people, with a strong focus on inclusion and belonging, particularly in seeing neurodiversity as an advantage in its sector. It also places strong governance practices at the heart of the business, not only its operations but supporting its clients by putting risk and compliance management as a core pillar of governance structures.
